A recent report by the Banking & Payments Federation Ireland (BPFI) reported that of the 12,000 new mortgages drawn down in the last quarter of 2019 over half were to first time buyers. In total in 2019 there were 49,000 mortgage approvals valued at €11bn. Overall mortgage activity increased in 2019 with volume increasing by 3.4% & value by 7.8%, with first time buyers and top-up drawdowns increasing year on year.
With over 20 years experience surveying houses it is vital that all buyer first timers and those more experienced seek the services of qualified engineers to ensure that the property there are purchasing, both new and old, are structurally sound, and comply with building and planning regulations.
